Nothing captures the spirit of the holidays like community, which is why Victory Electric is proud sponsor Dodge City’s annual Parade of Lights and Chili Cook-off. Each year the event attracts hundreds of visitors and community members.
The evening of festivities kicks off with the chili cook-off contest. Contestants compete in two categories, Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice, to take home an engraved chili ladle and bragging rights. Anyone is free to participate in the chili sampling and cast a vote for the people’s choice award category. Other attractions at the event include free hot chocolate and cookies, Santa’s sleigh ride––a four-minute virtual reality (VR) experience, and a chance to snap a picture with the big man himself at Santa’s house.
Following the chili cook-off is the mayor’s tree lighting at 400 W. Wyatt Earp Blvd (outside the CVB Visitors Information Center).
Once the tree is lit, the fun is not over! The streets of Dodge City come alive during the Parade of Lights with entries ranging from classic cars, school bands, and parade floats decked out in lights and Christmas spirit. All of the attractions during the event are free to the public and provide fun and entertainment to people of all ages.
